Free, you were in TF when this came out in the news. Toward the end of Mr. Reagan's second term it came out that Nancy regularly consulted an astrologer. There was a White House staffer who left and wrote a tell-all book about how Nancy controlled the President's schedule and that nothing got scheduled until the astrologer had been consulted. Nancy was fiercely protective and apparently became very superstitious after the President was shot and wounded by a young man with a mental illness, although she apparently had always believed in astrology.
I remember the religious right (ppl like Jerry Falwell & Pat Robertson) got their panties all in a twist when it came out that the President and First Lady consulted an astrologer. The astrology thing seemed very Hollywood, imo. Lots of Hollywood "stars" like to consult the stars. The Reagans were socially conservative, but they weren't fundamentalists or evangelicals. My impression of the Reagans' Christianity is a kind of vanilla, mainstream protestantism with lots of room for personal conscience.
