It's all very complicated. The other day I was thinking that the money would have been better spent beefing up U.S. security. You know, like paying a living wage to airport security so it isn't done by people who can't get a job flipping burgers at McDonnalds.
I still think it is interesting that we have a whole National Guard program, but nobody could figure out what to do when those Jets went off course on 9-11. I live in an area with very heavy air traffic, and listen to the towers from time to time. Commercial airliners don't move an inch one way or another without being cleared to do so. When four jets all flew off course like that, it must have been noticed within seconds. But, there was zero response.
My Son was in the Army National Guard, and received an honorable discharge recently. It was mostly a waste of time. He was a Transportation Specialist, and was assigned a truck, but it didn't run, and there was no money to repair it.
I was thinking that perhaps some of that money we used to blow up Iraq could have been used to create some kind of meaningful protection here at home where 9-11 the terrorist attacks actually happened.
But, then the other side of me doesn't want to live in a police state.
Like I said, it is complicated.
