It seems that some people can't learn, which is the process of information that incorporates new information into old knowledge structures. This doesn't have anything to do with the information being good, bad, imagined or real and is directly related to a measure of intelligence. In that sense, intelligence is not related to knowledgebut to the ability to process it and integrate it.
Looking at the way Berg, Zerby and their croonies have always repeated the same patterns of behavior, it is safe to conclude that their intelligence has not allowed them to learn much from their mistakes. But there are other possible reasons.
For example, they may not really consider those "mistakes" as mistakes and the results validate their methods. I subscribe more to this notion, that they are evil manipulators ready to suck blood from the poor blind followers and when they send out PGs with small children, they do it as part as their method. When they push kids into killing themselves, they are following their methods. They are crazy motherf who deserve more than the wrath of man, they deserve and will get the wrath of God, whom they don't fear.
They don';t learn not because of mental illness but because of their evil ways.
