"An addiction could be anything you do regularly or repeatedly that is just a little bit too important to you, or that hinders you in some way, or that wastes time, or that you have made a god of in your life, or that bears bad fruit, or that takes the place of the "better" things in your life."
So, does that mean I can be addicted to the Family religion, using my obedient faith in a way that wastes time and replaces a living, dynamic relationship with a loving God for a tempermental God-in-a-box that I fear and continually jump through hoops to please?
Is doing whatever I can to stay in the Family--including silencing my conscience--something that's just a little too important to me? Could my addiction to the Family religion take the place of better things like an education and supporting myself and my dependent children through honest labor rather than asking selfish systemites to support us on handouts?
