Absolutely--I agree with the relationship of abuse/trauma to drug abuse. Studies of women with addictions show an extremely high correlation with trauma & abuse. I think it may run as high as 90% of women in treatment for addiction report a history of abuse.
I think a lot of SGAs get into substance abuse as a way of self-medicating the pain of the emotional, spiritual, sexual, and physical trauma they experienced.
