Here's my fantasy about giving Berg his due, and a qualitative measure of my anger:
I'm working an emergency room and the police bring Berg in on a psychiatric crisis call. The Endtime Pedophile is in DT's (alcoholic delerium tremons) and has been ranting out of control for several days, unable to sleep, threatening to kill people and himself. Zerboid and others are in tow, but Berg is so out there that law enforcement had to do the transport to ER. That means he's in custody, and he's going to have to play ball on my field for at least 23 hours.
Even though he's using an alias & false identification, I recognize him immediately. Beating him with a baseball bat isn't within my power, but actively agitating him to the point he gets forcibly strapped down on a hospital bed in four-point restraints is something that I could let happen. Maybe I could even manipulate staff so that a nurse who's not too good with the needle is the one who shoots him up with antipsychotics. Then, when I'm doing the discharge/disposition plan, I work it out so that he gets transferred to an inpatient treatment unit that's the worst rathole snakepit in the local system of care.
Would I do it? No, I truly hope not. Would I think about doing it? Yes. Then I would ask to be removed from handling his case.
