Could've been any clown writing it. Does it make sense that an official letter from The Family would come from (of all things) a yahoo e-mail address? Would an official Family rep not even have a name? You notice it was signed: 'Sincerely, Public Relations for the Family'? Sounds pretty fishy. And they never wrote back to verify their claims did they?
