The danger of this latest crop is that they spoof the from address - so it looks like its from someone you know, making it easier to get under peoples natural suspicions. If you do open an email that has an attachment - just be sure you don't activate the attachment, until you know for sure what it is. Most of the current viruses have a .pif attachment - executable code.
Best way is to keep anti-virus software, what ever you use, up to date. Nearly all the current problems stem from systems with no, or old virus software.
