except you forget that this abusive husband had the long arm of his leaders to do his dirty work. As well as the threat of a nasty God using the bible to keep one from leaving was very effective.
And if you had a loyalist husband or spouse, one had very little options. Also,the trick of keeping spouses from communicating if they thought they were doubters, that worked very good. Again, one size does not fit all. I'm wondering if because you are from parents who have been leaders for a long long time and even worked independently a lot, that you are seeing things differently. Just a thought.
