It's a matter of opinion. But, I think that there are some ex-members who do a good job, and some who do a bad job. The problem is that the ones who do a bad job have the potential to hurt the credibility of others.
Of everyone I've seen out there, I think that Daniel (Albatross) is in a league of his own. He writes well, he's successfully spoken in public at a conference, he is calm, and he has his facts together. He was born in the cult, so it is harder to discredit him as a disgruntled former member (apostate).
What the Family has done is hard to explain to outsiders. They just don't hear it. I tried to explain LJR to a friend of mine who is a Catholic Priest. After I told him all the gory details, he said, "So, they are trying to say that masturbation is okay?". That's as much as he could absorb.
The Family has it together in this respect. They have men and women who look good in suits, that know how to behave in a rational manner. Even though what they may be saying is a lie, it comes off good on TV. Unfortunatley, in this day and age, that's what counts.
