When someone in society extends an invitation to a fete of this nature, a gentleperson either accepts or graciously declines. We believe Acheick provides an exempliary model of courteous behavior.
Miss Manners feels distressed that a certain, shall we say -- churliness? --enjoys such wide currency in exfam social circles. No doubt this lower standard of deportment can be attributed to the Bergs, but we must remember that well-mannered people simply cannot let their social exchanges slip so low as to suggest they learned the basic rules of human decency in a sex cult.
