You are probably right. I tend to agree that Anneke knew from the beginning that Grant and FCF were an integral part of the Family. She may have simply blocked it out of her mind hoping Grant would break with the Family and preserve the "good" he was doing at FCF. She says she was wrong and that she did wise up later on, which is well and fine. I do have to wonder, however why in her letter she said she was old so couldn't remember what happened, and since she didn't remember what happened she never offered an apology. I think if she did that things would settle down pretty quickly. But I don't expect it to happen.
