Alan,
A lot of people talk about helping people leave the cult, but few have it in them to take them into their homes. I know I don't.
I've met three people since I've been on the boards who do take people in. They are (in alphabetical order) Anneke, Barney and Cancion.
Interestingly, one is on the left coast, one on the right, and another in the center.
All three of them have been criticized on the boards by other ex-members to the point where they rarely come around, if ever. But, they continue to open their homes and hearts.
All three have gained criticism because people think they are either secretly in The Family, or too close to Family members (especially leaders).
I was just watching my wife, Jane, write a message in this thread where she made the point that you can't really help people leave The Family, if you aren't willing to associate with Family members. It's kind of like these church people who talk to each other every Sunday about accepting Christ. They don't seem to make it out to meet anyone who actually needs to hear the word.
Most of us (me included) are very safe here on our favorite websites. Talking about the evils of The Family, and getting all worked up when someone shows up and says they left the Family because of something we published. This is a valid ministry, and something I'm happy to be associated with. It's really all I can bring myself to do.
Your friend Anneke takes it to a whole other level that a lot of people can't even begin to understand. But, she continues on.
Playing at a level like that does tend to upset the status quo.
