I'm glad things are still going well for you.
Of course, I never expected to make a dime off the ex-member sites, and never have. Sometimes, the way people make demands, I think they must be under that impression, however.
I'm not sure where you have been working, but here in a 400 mile radius of San Jose, California it has been brutal for a lot of people.
A few years ago, kids practically out of high school were pulling down six figures, and I couldn't figure out exactly what they were doing.
Many of those kids are flipping burgers now.
I've been around computer telecommunications for a long time. But, I've always been fully employed in the Convention Industry, so I've never tried to make a living out of it. There was a point where those kids were making double what I did, and seemed to just be sitting around an office playing Neopets. I thought I had really missed the boat. But, these days, at least in California, I'm glad I stuck with the old brick and mortar.
I think you are right, that very skilled people, and hard workers will always be in demand. Since I finished school, I've never gone a week without some kind of work. I've never even drawn unemployment. Back when I was getting started in the Convention Business, when I would get laid off, I'd go work as an extra in TV or Film (another industry running out of California).
These days I do more computer work for barter than cash. For example, I trade Chiropractic care (for me and my whole family) for keeping the Doctor's office computers going.
