From my understanding, the floodgates to these problems to China were opened when Clinton listened to the International Monetary Fund and worried about the world economy. In order for the American people to enter into a world economic system and not be a "threat" we have to lower the costs of our goods, lower our wages and lower our standard of living. Tax cuts would be a better idea to put more money into the economy.
It's not just wal-mart, that's only one banana in the whole bunch. I have made a practice for the last 15 years to try and buy products that are not made in China. I look at every label and turn over every product. It's nearly impossible now. It's hard to find ANYTHING made in the USA. Even the steel for our big shopping centers comes from China. So even going to the supermarket is like going to Wal-Mart. What's the dif?
My opinion is that we should not do any business with China until they clean up their human rights abuses. Also, sending all our jobs overseas is a real problem that needs to be addressed and soon.
