Point taken. Although, I did read some interesting theories that show every scientific step forward, to have been mainly thanks to military interests.
Hunters loved the sound of the twang of their bows, and viola, we have instruments like the berinbau, which evolved into other string intruments. Drums were used for war time comunications and inter-tribal inter village political communiques, which inspired to morse code which in turn inspired binary mathematics. Drainage and plumbing were invented for keeping fortress cities functioning. Chains were inspired by weaving strands of metal together to create armour, which inspired chains for which inspried the creation of gears. So in that respoect, yeah, everything, but I'm sure you can shoot (pun intended) the theory full of holes.
