While S.I. does do some crazy stunts with wild animals, he is a "showman" and much of what appears as "danger" is orchestrated to look that way. Yes, he does get injuries. Fishermen go out to sea and risk their lives each time. They also sustain injuries quite often in the course of their job. Same for construction workers. That can be said of many jobs.
Life is full of hazard. Where I live, breathing the air is a hazard and way too many kids get asthma as a result of the bad air. Since my kids grew up here, I guess that would make me a child abuser?
When it comes to the stunt with the kid, I am sure there were plenty of controls that would assure the child's safety. I am also sure that camera angles made the stunt appear far more dangerous that it was.
The crocs are his main business and he learned from his father how to do what he does. Crazy? Maybe. But there are plenty of vocations that are far more hazardous to a person's health.
That is just my take on it.
