Everything I read about him and the things that he said, was so similar to a young berg. Of course, berg was into JW theology also.
It pained me to hear of those women going down with the ship, probably thinking they were doing the best thing for their children. I do believe they were brainwashed to some extent.
I didn't know that tidbit about Koresh drinking in the bars - but what about his cache of weapons? Wouldn't they still need to raid his place to get their evidence? What good would it have done to have arrested him without any evidence? I do agree that they handled it all wrong. They played right into the endtime vision thing - complete with tanks and blaring loud music at them. They were so totally ignorant of the mindset of a cult member. I also blame Clinton and Reno. They got away with murder, literally, time and again.
