Just over one year ago (Winter Solstice 2002) I discovered the Movingon.org site during a slow work day. I was looking for moveon.org so I could sign up for online activism. Instead, I stumbled across a ghost from Christmas' past...which ultimately lead me into online activism, just not what I was originally seeking.
Even though exfamily.org is a diverse group and we aren't of "one mind" on a range of issues, I'm really impressed with the civility of the folks who post here. People in the United States seem to have lost the capacity to be civil in their public discourse. I had to laugh at Dan's santorum link, but it struck me as really vicious--kind of like the frightening political discourse of the man it lampoons.
I've been blessed this holiday season with some great family reunions filled with laughter and happy memories, as well as a wonderful, loving partner who reminds me to speak gently.
