We were probably both typing a lot of the same things at the same time. I agree with what you are saying.
I've had a bad cold the last few days, and I woke up at about 3:am coughing the other night, and turned on the TV. There was this History Channel program on about the effects of McCarthyism on African Americans.
One of the people they were interviewing, it might have been Harry Belafonte, was saying that before WWII the most terrible thing you could be was an "Anarchist". After WWII it was a "Communist".
I was laying there thinking about that and wondering what we had like that today. The only thing that came to mind was Pedophilia. It is the horrible, unspeakable crime of our day. Being in any way associated with it can ruin a career, destroy a marriage, and land you in jail where you may be beaten to death by other inmates before you ever come to trial.
This community of former COG members is so used to talking about child sexual abuse that I think most people have lost sensitivity to it. It becomes especially dangerous when people start naming names based on second or third hand information.
