Many SGA's don't believe in a god. I know I don't. I think a fundamental difference between FGAs and SGAs may be the religious aspect. Whatever the reason behind a FGA joining and staying in, there had to be some element of belief or faith attached. As an SGA, I did of course try to believe, but not out of personal conviction, but rather because it was all I knew. Once I could no longer reconcile common sense with what I was being taught, I had to leave. I figured I'd rather brave the horrors I was told I would face, (just to have a shot at intellectual autonomy) than stay in a situation in which getting up each morning to face the day was becoming more and more difficult.
