In Reply to: Maria and Peter's apology - don't they get it? posted by Acheick on December 01, 2003 at 10:37:54:
Maria and Peter's pseudo apology reminds me of the non-apology apologies that a certain past U.S. president used to give:
"My fellow Americans...I'm sorry that you think that I lied to you. I feel your pain, and I'm so sorry you feel the way you do...but it's not my fault...I didn't really do anything wrong...and even if I did...even presidents have private lives...so mind your own business...you really owe me an apology for the way you've persecuted me unfairly..."
I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for those two characters to offer a real apology. They are like the Egyptian pharaoh, who refused to let the Jews go free until his kingdom was brought to its knees from all the plagues. The Bible says that God hardened pharaoh's heart, so he could receive judgement for his actions. IMO, Maria and Peter have been given hearts of stone. They're just marking time now while the curses just grow in their accounts.
