My son left with us when he was 15 and did not enter a public school until he was 16. He realized he would not graduate until he was 19 since he did not have enough credits. He opted to drop out of high school and go straight to a junior college once he turned 18. Anyone can go to a junior college at 18. He was barely there a year when he joined the coast guard and used his military experience to help him get ahead. He worked long and hard, came back and earned a BA and then ended up doing something completely different, went to a 6 month course and got a high level job. He now makes more money than his parents (us). He just bought himself a sweet car. So, yes, with a little hard work, toughing it out, SGAs have what it takes to succeed. The biggest problem I see is the indocrination since birth against "the system" how horrible it is, how anti-Christ the U.S./West is, they will get STDs if they leave the F., etc., etc. They simply are not prepared to deal with all the hurdles that come ones way in the "real world." I see them being more emotionally behind than academically. This is one reason I have pushed for some kind of exit therapy to be developed for kids (or adults) leaving cults. Imagine having to leave ones whole family behind. I would like to see more public awareness and is one reason I work on this site. I hope it does some good in that way.
