I agree, the rules could tighten up again and things could take a weird or even harmful twist. I don't KNOW for certain that this will happen though. There is, of course, the possibility.
People are a LOT more independant now than I have ever seen before, much more vocal and assertive too. Allowing people in a "cult" to adopt is a tough call. It's not my call to make though.
I know some great parents in TF. A young SG couple were just passing through our city to have their first baby. It was beautiful watching those first bonds develop between them and their son. I have no doubt that they will be wonderful parents and will love and protect their little one.
The purpose of my post was not to defend TF (anything but!!) but to defend this couple. They may be suckers and stupid as far as their loyalty to leadership etc. One day they may leave with the same kind of disillusionment and anger that many of us feel or have felt. Or not. Maybe they will continue on with their wacky beliefs. As long as they provide a safe, loving home and family for that child I would not presume to stand in their way.
I do not believe that every FG in TF is an abuser or has the potential to be. If I did I would not be participating on this board seeing as most of you are ex-FG members.
