I've sat around and played guitars with Family members. I wasn't in the Family, so I don't know any Family songs. I mostly know stuff from when I was growing up in the 60's and 70's. It is always interesting to see the reaction when they *think* I suddenly know some Family song, or one that sounds alike.
I did American Pie once, and a member did explain to me the special significance of that particular song.
Don McClean is another guy who probably never heard of The Family before they tried to rip off his song. He thought he was writing about the death of Buddy Holly.
It is interesting that with system music branded as evil, so much of it ended up being used.
