I have to admit that I'm unusually curious about Karen Zerby. Women who actively support and promote the molestation and abuse of children are a relatively rare phenomenon. All of the research on this group that I know anything about involves female prison inmates.
What you describe as "love hunger" has a parallel in the clinical literature to dependent personality traits, which include "people who go to excessive lengths to obtain nurturance and support from others, to the point of volunteering to do things that are unpleasant."
Most people who get this diagnosis are women. Some clinicians argue that the "dependent personality disorder" is actually an extreme form of female socialization in the cultural norms of submissiveness, passivity, deferrence, self-sacrifice, etc.
