Just because there are sincere individuals in an organisation, be it the Nazi party, doesn't necessarily make it a benevolent organisation. And if former members speak out, it doesn't mean they are stuck on the past and not forgiving. The issues are a whole lot more complex than that.
This "past" as you call it, that we're supposed to leave behind, is alive and well and moves along with us into the future. Have you even spoken to a SG? have you even listened to their pain? Some of them question their VERY EXISTENCE on this earth.
You see, I've listened to some of them tell me about their mother, who decided thanks to the teachings of TF, that it was OK to have sex with strangers to spread God's love, and they were born as a result. Not only were they born, they were part of a big experiment in the business of the "law of love" and communal living. Ever heard of the "One Wife" doctrine, Luke? Some SGs were sexually abused. All were beaten and herded around. Hardly any felt the security they should have had growing up because they were subject to summary judgement and harsh corporal punishments. They were used as slave labour. They had to put on a show all the time to "be a sample" for others so much they couldn't be themselves. After years of living in social isolation, when they leave the group, something they never chose to join, and come out to the world, they find they are not equipped to deal with it, under-educated and under-skilled, and with a load of emotional baggage. Some will never get help or answers to why their parents did what the did, and some have been scarred forever and some wounded so deeply they have committed suicide.
So please don't insult us with your "all this is in the past and lets move on" Family propganda. I am willing to bet you got that idea straight out of someone in the group and parroted it over here.
Luke, this is not yet in the past. When it is past, that will be a day to celebrate. The legacy of Berg, Maria and TF lives on. TF continues with their cruel deeds in the name of love. They are not paying for any due reparations to the people they've damaged.
