Good question. Certain things are established. You know first hand of abuse. You know that the exposure will cause harm. Then you have to ask yourself, which is the greater harm?
It seems to me that doing nothing is not only criminal in many places, (though not really provable-that you had info. that you did not report.) But BECAUSE the person is charismatic, so much more the resources for abuse.
The big question is how is it most helpful to expose? And that seems to be privately through legal bodies that investigate and keep confidential whatever they are doing to assist the people in need. That way, public humiliation is avoided at best.
