I was in a home in 1970 where a leader (now in Maria's clan) forced me down on a bed and french kissed me, threatening to teach me how to be what I should be to my "mate" when I was barely pregnant with my first. After this he prayed in tounges with weeping saying I was always going to be one of God's sheep forever.." Later, I had to sleep with my "mate" in a tiny room on the floor beside these same leaders bed, being dealt with for resisting daily frequent sex, having been reported by him. I mean, I was pg., passing a little blood, having morning sickness, and hated being treated like an object. This is actually rape, and in fact WORSE than rape, because these are people you should be able to trust. It destroys a positive self-esteem, kills spirituality, and diminishes the person with each blow. To object to it would cause horrific repurcussions. On top of that, I was told by this same leader things to humiliate me, regarding my height, my shoe size, anything he could do to try and degrade me. He also had a penchant for beating his wife. On more than one occasion he gave her a shiner. Ahh, there's nothin' like the love of Jesus...(not!!!!)
This kind of being dealt with definitely had it's roots in letters similar to Mo's about the woman being threaten to be hit with a rod and have to perform in front of all to see what the problem was. I know that there were couples put together that were not even attracted to each other at TSC. Naturally, there were problems regarding sex. Since the women were usually reported for resistance, the threats were generally to women. Berg definitely had no respect for women. Or men. Or children.
