It all adds to the very twisted sexual morality we were brought up to believe. It's still hard for me to comprehend some of the things I used to believe in and accept.
I know that when I read those sort of writings, there was always that little bit of doubt or disturbance in the back of my mind that kept me from fully accepting it, but there was enough 'belief in the Lord's Prophet' that kept me in the group, and somehow I was able to push the things I felt weren't right away from my conscience and continue to believe in the 'prophet'. The verses "those who have not seen and yet believed" and "now we see through a glass darkly..." were really used on us to convince us to accept things we didn't understand or didn't agree with or didn't feel comfortable with.
Just my bitty 2 cents.
