Actually, some of the reactions of the YA's who were invited to the weeklong meeting to preview and suggest revisions to the Charter had hilarious reactions. There was this one rule for young people about "no skin to skin touching of the genitals." So one young man piped up, "No problem, we'll wear gloves!" I still remember that one.
At this pre-Charter time, believe it or not, as long as things were mentioned either calmly or, as above, jokingly, it was fine. The leaders of this particular meeting were Ike of Julia (who left the Family a few years later from the Home I was then in) and Juan, and there was honestly no pressure to say the party line that I saw.
Of course, I remember saying, and writing, that as a result of the Charter I could foresee the Family breaking up into a lot of small Homes and that single moms were really going to have it tough and be "unwanted" material. My comments were not condemned, but basically ignored or poo pooed by leadership, and (God, I hate to say this, but....) I told them so! Ha. (I hate it when one of my kids says, "I told you so!")
Anyway, my two cents worth of recollections.
