I kind of feel the same way you do. I've always been on the net under my legal name, and published all sorts of personal things about myself and my Family. I figure that if someone has the interest and the talent to get to me, then they probably deserve it.
Back when I was running my BBS, I got zapped one time. Woke up to an empty hard drive. You know what I did? I pulled out the tape backup, that I had been making every Saturday morning for ten years, restored my files, and acted like it never happened.
As far as written communication, I know this may be strange coming from me after the stink I made a few months ago on this very website regarding something I wrote in an email being published. But, the thing is, that you should never put anything in writing that you aren't willing to have exposed to the public.
I'm still pissed off about that, but the end result was that I had to get smarter about what I said, and to whom.
The Cryptography, by the way, was a protection scheme for sharware programs that I was marketing.
