I think usually this has happened inadvertedly, like it happened with archivist just now, and it seems like it hasn't happened so often.
I think the simpler things are for posting, the better, so as long as it's not a recurring problem, and not being done intentionally, maybe it's better not to have the pw protection.
Sometimes I forget the pw I used for this or that.
Also, if I go to a news site, I tend to go to the ones that don't need my pw.
