getting a GED opens many doors for people who want out. The GED and even HS diploma is not about knowledge alone but most important about completion. The system school is adequate but not really great and many times parents do a much better job. Socializations seems to be one of the strengths often mentioned in relationship to the school system, and that is a very sad thing in most cases.
What o me is intriguing is that a common everyday Home would have time and resources to allow its children to get educated. What kind of Home would that be? Did it have the same mission as other typical Family Homes or did it receive some special type of income other Homes don't normally have?
