Yes. You make lots of sense to me! I think part of that self-ness is to also acknowledge the good points and strengths about ourselves.
The fam., and for me, my fam. of origin were so about humiliation and being dealt with and told I was "stupid", "a bitch", "nothing" and so on and so forth, that it takes work to build up on the strengths and good aspects. A good exercise is to take a piece of paper and write two columns. One for what you like about yourself, and one for what you dislike about yourself. For some, the latter list is a lot easier to complete. And is a good indicator of where self-esteem is at. :)
