Barney should not be the point of discussion as he will not participate and he is free to do as he pleases, mostly not say anything as he has done in the past. What should be discussed is the idea of halfway houses and what they should provide. If Barney wants to be a one-size-fits-all type of place, it is his prerogative. I think distancing himself from the NDN and the boards actually give him more credibility and control over the people who will look up to him for assistance. For what I have seen of him, he is an empire builder and people like that will control. Since he knows how empowering the boards can be, he decides to move away from them so he willbe the sole informaiton provider to the people he gets. There is a lot of money to be made in the charity business and he has seen the opportunity.
