For the last few months I have been interested in the politics of the ex members posting in these boards and I have been surprised. I have also been surprised by their religious views. It is not so much for how diverse or similar we are but about how little I really knew some of the deep doctrines in TF. I am still not interested in the interpretations as much as I am in the actual experiences of people. One of the famous teachers of old continues believing (unbelievable!!!) that MO somehow was speaking God’s words. Talk about delusion. But I have learned a few things about these old Family doctrines (which have probably already been surpassed by the latest non-GP revelations of the new spokespeople).
Reading what the neo teachers and interpreters post about the most recently split hair I am learning that I missed some important subtleties and implications of the Family’s ideology. I am starting to understand the contradictions of some top leaders showing no mercy on little unimportant followers. I am starting to understand where the arrogance and false humility of some was coming from.
We were told that we were the best and we believed it but only some crossed the line of self-righteousness and thought nothing of inflicting pain on others and even thought of it as a virtue. How many times MO quoted that verse about destroying the body that the soul may live? He totally forgot what the whole Chapter (1 Cor. 5) was talking about. This state resulted partially from the MO letters with their abusive overtones but it also came through these people’s own personal self-indoctrination with doctrines of supremacy.
I got my fill of that to last me a lifetime and if I learned something is that we are all equal and not like MO and some of his servants used to repeat, that “some are more equal than others”. What a load of crap!
