Is that it just wasn't smart. So they could do it, sure, but why put up a message deliberately intended to offend? It's gonna backfire.
Remember when some American hackers messed with Chinese sites and then the Chinese hacked into some major U.S. websites to get back? As I recall they even tampered with the Pentagon's site. These are serious times and I don't think practical jokes help either side.
