Oh such unpleasant memories you bring back Donny. I cringe just skimming my memory bank for it. I don't remember having any good birthdays in the fam, just miserable ones. I belong to a culture and a family (the real one) that likes to celebrate just about anything and birthdays were a great excuse to treat everyone out bring everyone together and have fun. So when I joined the fam, where on your birthday you were allowed to provision yourself a gift, get to "pick" your date for the night, or worst it went unnoticed, I went into shock! I think I aged so much while in as self-care was considered vain and shallow. Now that I'm out, I revel in it. I wallow in all the "vanity" and "shallowness" that I can afford. I splurge on spas and treatment salons on my birthdays and I come away feeling loved. I'm loving myself more and I love it.
