Carrots have pro-vitamin A
beta-caroteen (spelling ??)
It turns into vitamin A by the action of sunlight on the skin and in the process pigments the skin with exactly the same product as "natural" tanning. The more carrots you eat the faster and easier you tan. You can't overdose on beta caroteen like you can on vitamin A.
