'how come you did not leave?'
on hearing the stuff he and others were put through
he replied with what I still think is a very concise but clear answer:
"because I WAS IN A MASSIVE STATE OF DENIAL."
perhaps it was not enough, but it was honest. that much would be a good start from any of us, I think, and we are not on TV in front of millions and millions of people.
