I believe that cults cause people to do things they never in their lives would have dreamt of doing. Neither did they enjoy it when they had to. (And those that say they do that are exers are the ones who maybe had those characteristics before the family put them up to it.) I also believe that some individuals in cults (to be specific, the family) are pedophiles or sadists in their character and fit right in. So Sam exposes the Family and its associates. On a general level, this is good. But I am also wondering what kind of Dr. he is. Sam, if you are reading this, are you a Dr.? I think for exposure to be taken seriously, when a suspected target (i.e. Torchbearers) is mentioned, it should be known before publishing the name that it is indeed family. Damage can be done without thoroughness. With regard to other exposures, ample proof has been discussed. And I believe the investigations need to go without pretense. That brings integrity to the effort.
I also believe that Berg (who is dead) and now Maria and Peter (who are not) are the primary ones to be held accountable along with individual perpetrators. There is all this talk about will FGAs stand up for SGAs regardless of what it does to them or their families, but no clear explanation of what standing up entails. I think the position that many SGAs (who were born into the family and did not swallow hook line and sinker what they were being taught, and were dealt with severely) being antagonistic towards FGAs as if FGAs chose to join a cult and get into what we wer taught is re-victimizing the FGAs. Maybe there are those here that are FGAs and gluttons for punishment and continued degradation. I for one am not. Please realize when I am posting this, I am not posting to your post only, but things I have been reading collectively from all sides. I agree with others assessments that to destroy their own families to testify in a way where they would expose themselves IN SOME CASES would be doing a great damage to many and that is bloodthirsty in my opinion to state what any should or shouldn't do without regard for their own families and their own recoveries as exers. And I believe all exers are like the Jews in your analogy. I personally feel that a great deal more could be accomplished with people working together in different ways and on different fronts. My primary interest has been in the resources dept. for members, any age, getting out. AND their rehabilitation.
So, while we disagree in our perception as a whole, we do not disagree entirely. I have been attacked on this board when I posted an e-mail regarding this subject. I do not condemn either SGA or FGA as exers, or any that want to get out. Those that are still in have families, scattered though they may be. Do the ends justify the means? And what exactly are the means?
