In this cause to bring the Family to justice, what role could you all have? The testimonies being given by the SGAs will be used to show the proof of the Family's perfidy, the results of its teachings and doctrines, and will be a strong statement against them.
It will probably in many cases be taken even more seriously than testimony given in the same manner by FGAs, simply for the fact that they (we) were not responsible for our choice to be in the group and when we became old enough and able, we left.
But there are many FGAs who could give testimony to their knowledge of the Family's lying, coverup, and the inner truth to the Family's doctrines. This would be mean though an expose of themselves. It would mean admitting what they themselves were guilty of, and the price would be high. If my husband were to come out to the public and speak about his past life, it would have serious repercussions in our everyday life.
But if the FGAs who had more knowledge of the inner workings of the Family, those who were in WS, part of the leadership structure, were to band together with the SGAs and come out in a united exposure of the Family (but keep in mind it would include exposing themselves), would it have a strong impact? You would have the children bearing testimony of the fruit of the doctrines, and the 'parents' bearing testimony of the workings of the organization.
My husband is at a decision point concerning this, myself included. Do I want him to go public, do I want him to go to the media about the truth of what happened 10 years ago (there was a large media persecution of which my husband was at the front of and was the face for the group). Am I willing to risk our reputation in our neighborhood, the possible fallout of reporters on our doorstep, what it would mean to our kids who are more innocent than I am? I don't think I am ready for that right now.
Coward that I am, I don't want to expose my family to a possibly negative situation. If it were me and my testimony alone, it would be different, I am more innocent, I would not be exposing myself, I haven't done anything questionable in my past.
But my husband, along with many many exmembers do have a tainted past, and in exposing the group they would have to expose themselves. The first taint being simply that they made the choice to join a cult. Though some may understand that choice made at the early ages of 19, 20, 24, others won't, and they will be condemend for it. Are the FGAs willing to go that far to expose the cult and its leadership?
