I am no authority either, but I often hear that argument from people who do not have personal and intimate gay friends. (Gay guys often make the best friends for women. You don't have to worry about them wanting to get into your pants, and they can give you very good tips about how to treat men. :)
And I also hear racist stuff from people who do not have black close friends. (I had an interracial marriage, btw. I have seen racism from close, and my kids have seen it, too)
Is this just a coincidence? Maybe. There is no scientific proof for this either. :)
