you know, i'm not sure if either of you anonymous posters knows what it feels like to post in your own name, admit your family identity and former leadership connections, confess to having made terrible mistakes and sins for which not only you and your own loved ones continue to suffer, but to having played a part in spreading a destructive movement into many areas of the world, and then come to a very antagonistic atmosphere such as this one w/ another point of veiw and end up discussed and judged by people who not only don't know me, but who do not even choose to sign their name to pointed accusations, find people now discussing "people like ray" (how do you know what i am like? as steve martin says when getting a prostate exam,"EXCUUUSE ME! DO I KNOW YOU?")...sorry, i can't remember now how this sentence started. stream of consciousness...or unconciousness, as the case may be...
sometimes i think it might help to post w/ the mental picture of the person you are speaking to , or about, in your mind as tho you were sitting in a room , looking them in the eye, and speak w/ the type of consideration that you would under those circumstances. i sometimes feel like i must have masochistic tendencies for even trying to communicate here.
as far as what i think should be done, besides the several things i've mentioned in this discussion already, (such as try to extend a compassionate attitude towards "our brethren in bonds",and think thru any action taken as to how it will help accomplish your goal, and how it might affect those who are not hardcore ws apparaciks, i have heartily agreed w/ the poster above who suggested pubbing more stories that might help set people free. i also have on several occasions mentioned being involved in the work of a ministry serving exmems of highcontrol groups.(posted on the resource section of this site.) i also am trying to study the questions raised by the stories posted on moving on. don't know the answers yet, but i have a feeling pouring water on maria and dancing around singing "ding dong the witch is dead" may not do all that much to heal their wounded hearts. other than that i am mainly trying to make an honest living, love my wife and kids, and grow a few tomato plants in the summer time. is that ok w/ you all?
by the way, altho i was in for 20, and a leader, off and on for a portion of that, i did get kicked out of the fam. for bluntly confronting m&m for their false teachings, and abusive practices, directly, (altho i believe only maria saw it), knowing that this stand was probably going to cost me my wives, kids, grandkids, and almost every friend i had on earth. Thank God,(if i am allowed to do that here..) much has been restored. but i share that just to let you know i believe in speaking the truth, making a clear case, to a persons face and living w/ the consequences. i suggested that perhaps that process,might show more integrity to fammems we wish to confront. this style of "outting" quite honestly does little to make me want to say "we" in referring to what we loosely refer to as the "exmem community".
