If you are basing your criticism in that quote, it is even worse because that statement is according to recorded history about the original religious colonies (some of them were not religious but commercial), which were very happy to allow freedom of thought as long as it was of the "approved" type. Read your history books again, some of those colonies were worse than others.
I do not object your giving an opinion, otherwise I would not have asked you to re-state it. Maybe you should get that chip off your shoulder? Refuting an argument is presenting a contrary argument, not just a contrary opinion. That is not discussing a point, it is stopping the discussion. If that is what you want, fine with me.
