.....his comments were pretty harmless. He was just trying to assure Heidi that God loved her & in the context the conversation ws meaningful & funny. He could have chosen his words more carefully but I'd say cut him some slack on this point.
If you wish to continue this discussion on how God shows his love to people, feel free but maybe take it to the Journeys board.
