I can't blast you because I had a hard time sifting through all that you are saying. I'm a bit rushed as I should be going to lunch, maybe that's why. One thing that stands out to me is that this person you refer to as "doing something postive and moving towards a more independent place" couldn't be any further from the truth - especially in this person's case. It's like that whole argument with Gary to befriend him because, because, in case he leaves??? Yeah, let's befriend Maria in case one day she decides to stop abusing a million people. These are perpetrators and not the mindless robots, pregnant and in the kitchen, or peddling clown acts on the street. We know this guy, we know what he's done, we know he's a top leader, figure, spokesperson, etc. I agree with ethecist. It's a statement that needs to be made to them. So what if they go to car washes next - at least they'd be working on their own. The point to me is that they need to know that they cannot run and hide from their legacy, that they have created that legacy, they cannot blame it on so-called disgruntled backsliders, or newspaper articles, persecution by the devil's forces, rather,it's their own doing, their own literature, their beliefs, and they have to one day own up to it and face it. Maybe the difference between you and me, Ray, is that you were a big leader in the F. and you view things from that perspective. I was not, I was rather crushed and trampled on by the big leaders, I have a harder time finding fondness in my heart for those very same big leaders. Now if any one of them were to step away and say, "wow, I was in another world and I hurt many people, I was wrong, what can I do to make up for it" - such as SSam has, or James Penn, then that would be a completely different matter. Look how many people refer to James Penn article and how it has helped them. He stood up and told the truth and it still has rippling effects to this day. Many people left because of that. I don't know, Ray, it's like the Republicans and the Democrats, they want the same thing, they just have different ways of getting to that end result. Don't think for a minute I don't understand - I have offspring still in the group, grandchildren. I hate every day thinking they are growing up to be other mindless, full of Bergism members. My 29 yr old son has spent the last 10 years or so trying to talk to his sibling, visiting, writing letters, all in the hopes that one day they will wake up, and i think he has finally given up. There's a certain point where all the coddling and waiting just ain't gonna do it.
