Racism has always played an important role in the expansionism vision of the US, inheritance from its northern European forefathers, particularly the British Empire. During the rise of the 3rd reich there were interests in the US promoting that very same view and at some point the german lobby was actively promoting support of Germany by the US government. Who knows what would have happened should not have been for the Japanese attacking Pearl Harbor. Also, the only reason England was in the opposite side was not because of its hate of racism, high morals or purity of intentions but because of its imperialistic conception of the world, which they still have and hope to maintain through their use of the mighty army of the US.
