And it's not a multi-level marketing scam.
I was talking with another ex-member a couple days ago and he suggested a way for people who want to earn good money but not to be tied down to a secular job. I thought I'd pass it on. It's been done before. One 14-year old kid who was taken into the Family by his dad some years ago, when he exited, began selling pianos for a living.
Here's how he did it. He would advertize in the papers, "I buy and sell used pianos" and then wait for the phone calls. Often people who just wanted to get rid of their pianos, didn't play them anymore, had just divorced, etc. would say they wanted maybe $400-$500 for them, but he'd offer them a ridiculous low-ball figure like $50 and more often than not they'd accept. They just wanted to get rid of them and have someone take them away.
Then he'd tune them up and re-sell them for a higher price. He ended up opening some music stores, then did so well that he ended up buying the strip malls his stores were in. Last heard he owned several strip malls. It's not hard work and even if you know nothing about tuning pianos, it's worth paying someone to do it, then re-selling it.
Some people who really know mechanics do the same thing with cars. They buy at a car auction, fix it up, then resell it for a huge profit. They live off that for a month or two, then go out and do the same thing all over again. I thought I'd suggest this in case there are any people who have a knack for sales and are tired of a low-paying job.
